Fee and dates

Before August 16 (early bird)400€
After August 16 (application for scholarship closed) 450€

Summer School fee includes:

  • Registration fee;
  • Coffee breaks and lunches for the entire week;
  • A week program, with lectures, discussions and group work;
  • Handouts and other relevant teaching material;
  • One social/gala dinner.

Application process:

To apply for admission participants have to complete the application form and submit it electronically. Applicants have to submit:
Motivation letter (pdf): Applicants must provide a written statement of motivation (with a maximum length of one page). The language of your motivation letter must be English.
Curriculum vitae (pdf): max. 2 pages.

Below you will find the steps in our application process, please read them carefully before you apply. Please note that the school is an in-person event only with a limited number of participants!

Once you have submitted your complete application it will be reviewed (considering your digital humanism relevant achievements and motivation) on a first come first serve basis – so do not forget to upload the two needed documents (in step 2). The allocation of places (if positively reviewed) will then also take place in this order.

On the last page, you can find an overview of everything you filled out. In case everything is correct, you can submit your registration.

Status application

Within 10 days after you have submitted your application, you will be informed by e-mail whether you are admitted to the Summer School. Once you are admitted we will send you an invoice (in case you have not applied for a scholarship). Please be aware that only after you have paid the fee, you are officially admitted to Digital Humanism Summer School 2022. You can check the status of your application anytime, please use the link and login details which you received by e-mail.

Scholarship – Tuition fee waiver

We grant a limited number of 10 scholarships (full tuition fee waivers) to students of the Summer School. We are grateful to the following individuals, institutions and companies for this support.

These waivers will be attributed on the basis of merit and financial needs. If you think you may be eligible, you will need to provide the following supporting document as part of your application (after step2 of registration):

  • a letter explaining your financial need as well as your achievements (upload as third file, pdf)

The deadline for applying for the tuition fee waiver is 16 August (same as the early bird deadline).

Visa Support Letters

Citizens of some countries cannot enter Austria without a valid Schengen visa. We can provide visa support letters to registered participants. Those requesting a letter should allow up to 10 days to receive it. All requests are handled in the order they are received. For visa support letters, please email dighum@ec.tuwien.ac.at, and include the following information:

  • Name (as it appears on your passport)
  • Organization / University
  • Mailing address (Street name, City, Postal Code, Country)
